Neko Jikan, in english Cat Cafe, is one of those places that everybody should visit when they travel Japan.
To say it easy, it’s a lounge where you can stay and together with cats. You can pet them, feed them or ignore them: it’s up to you. You can order drinks or read the mangas on the shelves or play Wii, chat or study. The cats are all healthy and clean, they don’t mind strangers, and some of them will even try to get your attention. There are just a few rules to follow… among these you can’t scare the cats, pick them up, take photos with flash or hurt them in any way. You pay a cheap price for the time you spend inside, plus the drinks you order. Oh… No shoes inside and you have to wash your hands before you enter!
It may not sound like a big deal, but it’s something you have to try. It’s one of the example of the great mentality that made Japan such a great country.
There are many around Japan… you can easily find them using google. This one is the one in Shinjuku, Tokyo. There were 52 cats in total: 34 were in the public area, the others in the private area.
Hope you enjoyed the post!
